Summer is rapidly approaching and I feel compelled to write about "Bridal Manners and Vendor Etiquette"

So many times Brides tend to over look the importance of taking care of their many vendors who work very hard behind the scenes to make the Bride and Grooms wedding day beautiful.

Some words of Wisdom.

Feed your Vendors:
Don't be the bride with the bad manners and poor etiquette. Our Texas summers are brutal! Even down right dangerous to older folks attending your out door wedding. It can be hard enough on you guest but even harder on those who have to brave our heat all day setting up for your wedding and then be denied food and drink at your event.

Feed the band members, photographers, videographers and even the Coordinator and their assistants! They are working for YOU. Many, many hours go into the set up and even the breaking down of your event.

Rule of thumb:
If your event planners are on site for four or more hours and those four hours run into a normal meal time, (i.e. your wedding reception) provide them with a meal or at minimum a light snack. Don't feed the band members and ignore everyone else just because they contracted the meal. Offer food and drink to every vendor who must be present for the four or more hours. It's so rude to sit and watch someone walking by with a plate of food and your NOT included!

Tip and Gratuity:
Is always appreciated if and only if your happy with the vendor's services.

Write a thank you letter!:
Vendors want to know that your were happy with their services. And if you weren't write them a letter saying why (without rudeness) so that they can IMPROVE their services.

Val-ay Parking:
Pay for every ones Val-ay Parking. Not just one vendor. Make arrangements with the event center to cover your vendors parking. At some resorts it can cost up to $25 per day for parking. If they attend your rehearsal and wedding that's $50 out of their pocket.

Itinerary:
It's hard on vendors (band, photographer and videographer, caterers, consultants, florist) who have been given their marching orders (Itinerary) only to have the couple constantly changing the evening events as the evening progresses. Know what you want before the event and stick to it. It makes things run much smoother and with less stress for everyone.

Don't "surprise" your vendors at the last minute:
If your contract reads "ballroom" don't springing it on your vendors that it's on the out door lawn and patio at the last minute or you just might get a bill for additional charges. Bands come dressed for the environment you booked the event for. Florist can't keep your four feet candle lab-eras and three foot crystal trees standing safely on an out door table much less keep the darn things lit.

Most of all understand vendors are in the business because they love weddings. They love what they do and will bend over backwards to help you and make you happy. Be kind and gracious and you will be rewarded with exceptional services and devotion.

I promise, you and your family will be remembered.
It's up to you on just how you want to be remembered.

Being the Wedding Coordinator for my own wedding, my responsibility was to see that all my vendors brought my "Vintage Victoria Wedding" theme together with beautiful execution. They not only did that but exceeded my expectations! All those months of hard work paid off and finally the day was here. My wedding day! As a Wedding Coordinator I realized that just as I share with my Brides the need for hiring a wedding coordinator I too needed to hired a coordinator for the "day of" our wedding. I wanted to be a bride on my wedding day and not the coordinator. You just simply can not do both. So with my Coordinator taking over the monumental task of executing all the events of the wedding day, I got to dress up in my beautiful Bridal Gown, slipped on my satin wedding shoes and married my beloved on a very cold Sunday morning in January. As you see above, Sue at "Alamo Plants and Petals" did a truly gorgeous job on the flowers. The wedding cake was done by "Cakes by Jamie Lyn" and was a collaboration of Jamie and Sue with an end product that took your breath away it was so beautiful.

Let me help by giving you some basic Wedding 101 Planning Tips essential to keep you, your groom and your family happy.

Now, if any one tells you your wedding day will be stress free don’t believe them! Buy the simple virtue of the importance of the day it will have an element of stress but it will be good stress that comes from the sweet anticipation of a beautiful wedding day. A Professional Wedding Consultant REDUCES the stress so that you can enjoy your day.

So here are the Tips I promised.

There are three elements that go into the creation of any wedding.

Planning Design Coordination

Wedding Planning for a typical Wedding takes about 250 hours of planning time. That adds up to about 30 weekends of your time planning, designing and coordination of services. That’s almost eight months of planning time.

Do you have the time?

Are you able to negotiate a legal contract?

Can you understand a legal contract?

Are you able to handle professional vendors?

Can you keep up with payment schedules and contract obligations that are required of you?

Do you know who the PROVEN vendors are in the industry? (No-show DJ’s photographers and caterers are out there).

Just why is it “cheaper”? Picking a location based on price may end up costing you later.

Cost:

Currently, a typical wedding in San Antonio, Texas cost about

$32,000.00.

Are you diligent with staying on a budget? Be honest with yourself.

Have you ever planned a party or wedding spending the type of money a wedding requires?

Remember, Wedding Consultants do three important things:

Reduce stress, Saves you time, Saves you money (as much as 30%)

Just remember that doing your wedding yourself saves you, well, pretty much ……
